100 Days and The Ceremony Plans

It is officially only 100 days until our wedding day!  I can’t believe we are so close.  We still have lots to do and figure out, but I feel like we have a good handle on everything and that things are coming along smoothly.  In celebration of hitting the 100 day mark, over the next couple of days I’m going to share some of our wedding plans and try and share my vision for the day with you.

First up is the ceremony.

Jeremy and I are getting married at Fort Fisher State Recreation Area in North Carolina.  It on the southern end of the North Carolina coast- just above Bald Head Island

This is an aeriel view of the Visitors center and the parking lot at Fort Fisher.  We are lucky to have a place on the beach that has so much parking available!  We are planning to use that back road on the right side of the picture (a 4 wheel drive access road) as a means of getting some of our older guests to the ceremony site.  The ceremony is going to be 2/10 of a mile from the beach access walkway, and the walk could be difficult in the sand.

This is the spot we have picked for the ceremony.  It is far enough away from the main access to be semi-private and has beautiful sea oats sprinkled in the background.

I’m planning a set up similar to this picture.  We won’t have the pillars or the rope thing at the front though.

Instead, we’ll have a wooden cross behind where Jeremy and I will be standing.

The cross will be our reminder that our marriage is to be centered on Christ, and that we are making a covenant before the Lord.  That is what we want to be the focus of our ceremony.  I want our guests to come away from our ceremony saying not that there were just beautiful decorations, but that it was a time devoted to the Lord and completely centered on Christ.

Come back tomorrow for a peek into the reception plans!
