Have you ever read the children's book The Year of the Perfect Christmas Tree? It is by far my favorite Christmas book and I highly suggest you find a copy if you haven't read it before.
I had an image of a pine tree from The Graphics Fairy and transferred the image onto canvas drop cloth using Citra Solv. (Click here for a tutorial on using Citra Solv)
Once I transfered the image, I attached a ribbon to the top of the tree like the little girl and her father did in the book. I don't have any red ribbon right now so I just used white. Every time I look at my pillow now I am reminded of this sweet story.
This was the first pillow cover that I have made and I made in the envelope style. I was surprised by how easy it was and plan to make more pillow covers in the future.
We are planning to put up our Christmas tree and other Christmas decorations on Saturday. I am so excited and plan to spend this week getting ornaments and decorations made.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE your pillow, and I LOVE that book! I would definitely pay you to make me one (or more for gifts). :) It is my favorite children's book! I read it to my first graders last year. Then, I had them talk to their family about a tradition they have. They also wrote a story about their family tradition. and they shared it with the class. My tradition that I shared was when Paw-Paw and I would go in the woods, cut down a cedar tree, put it on my grandparents' breezeway, and decorate it with homemade ornaments. That is definitely my favorite Christmas tradition and one I hope to continue with South. <3
